Climate Change threatens Tundra biomes
Climate Change occurs when greenhouse gases corrupt the atmosphere and sequentially, allows more sun rays to radiate on to the surface. This extra sunlight and heat can have a disastrous effect on biomes, particularly Tundra. Tundra is most threatened by global warming because of its layer of permafrost underneath the surface. If that were to melt dramatic changes would be made to the biomes. The issue would contribute to rising sea levels and flood the Tundra areas due to the lack of drainage. This issue could have devastating effects on the plant and animal life that live in these environments. The biotic organisms in Tundras have adapted to the cold, icy conditions of the region and would not be able to tolerate the warmer temperatures. The majority of plant species would potentially become extinct and put the entire reliant food web in danger.
